COVID-19 forces us to stay at home as much as we can, and be responsible about the trips we make. Once things calmed down, we decided to slowly see something of our current country of residence: the Netherlands! Today we share with you some pictures of Edam, the city famous for it’s cheese market (which was not open unfortunately 😉 ).
The Zaanse Schans, located in Zaandam, is a sight that reminds us of the golden ages of the Netherlands and is one of the most famous tourist attractions in the Netherlands. With COVID-19, the sight is still open for public but of course with limited stores opened. Great way to see this otherwise swamped by tourists sight in it’s full glory!
In this day I will take you along our adventures on the airport and getting just in time to see Iguazu waterfalls from the Brazilian side. Lots of travel on one day, but we made it at the end!
Alarm rings to wake us up at 5:30 AM in the morning, quick shower and Uber to Buquebus to catch our ferry to a new country and the most southern Capital of Latin America: Montevideo, Uruguay!
Around 12:00 AM we arrived at our Hotel, Gran Hotel Argentina, located next to the Plaza de Mayo. We got a room all the way up on the 8th floor, great view over the widest avenue in the world and the obelisk of Buenos Aires!

After leaving the hostel at 10, we got a Completo breakfast (the Chilean version of a hotdog, which is amazing) at Ravera, food court next to the plaza, before heading to the palace to see the change of guards.
At the palace, they do it big. There are around 40/50 soldiers playing in a fanfare, around 90 foot soldiers with rifles and 10 on horse with large spears. Whole show took like 25 minutes.
Today, we took the time to explore everything that Santiago has to offer. From the Plaza de Amas, to some tips of restaurants and hotspots we visited during the Free walking tour.
After waking up on a bench in the airport of Santiago, it was time to check in! After getting some dunking donuts, we entered our 6:00 AM flight for a 5 hours trip to Easter Island!
After landing around 12:00 PM, we straight away got our tickets for the national park. These price for the ticket is 54,000 pesos per person, which is quite expensive (so be aware of that). You usually can pay by card, but the machines were out of order so we had to pay cash (make sure you bring enough cash!). You need the ticket to enter all the sights valid for a period of 10 days, with the sights of Orongo and Rano Raraku only allowed to enter once.

1. Wiltshire
You might think that nothing much happens in this farming county, but it’s actually home to one of the biggest unsolved mysteries in the world. There are many theories surrounding the construction of Stonehenge, ranging from ritual worship to aliens. Whatever the reason, Stonehenge truly is a marvellous construction; it’s well worth visiting the structure so you can make up your own mind about the reason for its erection.
2. Cornwall
Everyone needs to stop at the seaside during their road trip. Slip-on a wetsuit, swap your car for a surfboard and have great fun surfing the Cornish waves (or in most cases, falling into them). You could also use this stop off as a chance to visit St Michael’s Mount, a majestic castle located on its own tidal island.
3. Bristol
Modern art lovers will be in their element in Bristol as they get to explore the Banksy artwork that is dotted all around the town. Once you’ve had your fill of art, there is so much more to do and see in one of the biggest cities in the south-west of England; Bristol Harbour is a great place to admire the view and grab a bite to eat, while a tour of Brunel’s SS Great Britain is a great activity if you have young children.
4. Cumbria
If you want to immerse yourself in the beauty of the UK’s nature, then look no further than the Lake District. This national park is a beauty to explore and the ideal picnic destination for sunny days. You could easily spend days here, hiking the scenic routes and camping overnight.
5. Birmingham
Shopaholics will be in their element in this bustling city, sure to find a road trip souvenir in the many ‘Brummie’ shops. If you’re hungry, grab a curry for dinner, as the locals will argue that Birmingham’s are the best in the country.
6. London
No epic road trip is complete without a trip to the capital. Start off with a ride on the London Eye, before hopping on a tube to visit Buckingham Palace. If you like all things unique, then a trip to Camden market is essential before you get back on the road.
One day, two capitals. We started at 1 am in Buenos Aires, reached from Ushuaia. Tried to get an Uber but they all declined because of the area our hostel was in… so we where forced to take a cab. After waking up we found out that we stayed in the SOHO area of BA, so food hunt! Or, that is what we thought. Restaurants open between 12 and 14, and we planned to head to the airport around 12:30. We ended up in a local pastry shop buying sweets. Such a disappointment!
