Visiting Christ the Redeemer statue in Rio, Brazil

Rio de Janeiro is one of the most vibrant and exciting cities in the world, and no visit to this bustling metropolis would be complete without a trip to the iconic Christ the Redeemer statue. This stunning monument is located on top of Corcovado Mountain, which towers over the city at a height of 710 meters above sea level. And oh yes, like the picture above: it is a tourist hotspot!

South America Trip Day 12: Machu Picchu

Waking up to the sounds of a wild river, opening the curtains to see a huge mountain in front of you, wish all mornings were like this!

We got up early to get our bus tickets (24 USD both ways) which are valid throughout the whole day. Our entrance at Machu Picchu starts from 10 am, so we quickly packed, got breakfast and went to the bus.

The bus ride was about 30 minutes, with amazing views over the mountain range! We arrived around 9:30 am, but our tickets were valid from 10:00 am onwards for a period of 4 hours. They were quite strict on the minute about letting us in. Exactly at 10:00 am we could go.

In this article I will write about the Simatai Great Wall which is located near Beijing. The sections around Beijing are among the most famous parts, being renovated more frequent and attracting a lot of tourists. As part of the new 7 world wonders a must visit!

The sight is beautiful, with the famous ‘el Castillo’ dominating in the centre. In this blog I will take you along how I experienced the whole day trip.
