Costa Rica: Experiencing the Pura Vida lifestyle

Hola Travelers,

Costa Rica is one of the most beautiful places in the world. The country has everything anyone ever dreamed about. No wonder the slogan of the country is Pura Vida, meaning no matter what your current situation is, life for someone else can always be less fortunate than your own. Pure Life if you translate it literally. Great way to think about life isn’t it? In this blog I will show you that the environment the Costa Ricans live in helps enjoying life more! These are some of the top places to visit when in Costa Rica. I personally picked out 4 for you guys to get inspired!

1. Puerto Jimenez

Puerto Jimenez is a Peninsula in Costa Rica and borders the Corcovado National Park. This place is a must visit. Easiest access is with a boat. There are a few very good hostels where you can stay. Make sure you are prepared for the humidity, it is in the middle of the jungle after all!

While there be sure to book a tour on time, because they will only take a limited number of guests. You can also just walk around on your own through Puerto Jimenez and see all kinds of wildlife. Parrots, crocodiles and monkeys are everywhere around you!

Be sure to check out the beachside, some of the most amazing views can be found there. And, the beaches aren’t filled with tourist: just perfect!

2. Hiking in Monteverde

Monteverde is a city surrounded by mountains north of the capital. If you love hiking, this is the place to visit. It is totally different from Puerto Jimenez, you go from the hot jungle to the high altitude of Monteverde. The Three Amigos trail is one I can recommend, with a beautiful view on top!

3. Manuel Antonio

From the mountains we go to the touristy spot Manuel Antonio. It has a beautiful beach and the national park is worth a visit. The beach at the park is just amazing! Mind the stealing raccoons and monkeys who are not shy to look inside your bags for food. The park is known for its beautiful nature spots.

4. La Fortuna

The last place to recommend visit is La Fortuna. This place is the home of the Arenal Volcano. An active volcano which last erupted in 2000. The nature around the volcano is breathtaking. There is also a lot of hiking trails which can be found in the area. And the smoking volcano is a cool look whenever you look at it! Our hostel had a great view over the volcano, even from the hammocks ;-).

Just chilling with this view, that is Pura Vida.

Do not forget to visit the hot water springs in the area for a well deserved hot bath :).

Costa Rica is an amazing country to visit. There are a lot more stories to tell, which I will share with you in later blogs!

Have you ever visited Costa Rica? What was your favorite memory of this beautiful country? Let me know in the comment section below!

Safe travels from your Uncensored traveler,
