Monument to the Battle of the Nations, Leipzig (Germany)

From far and wide within Leipzig, you will see this enormous monument standing 91 metres tall! The monument was built between 1898 and 1913 and is a sight you must visit when in Leipzig!

Germany from a highlight perspective, what you should experience!

We met, lived, loved and got married in Germany. A country that has a lot to offer when it comes to tourism, and can not be underestimated! If you get the opportunity to come to Europe for travels or studies for a longer time, make sure you also visit Germany along the way! Here are some of the experiences you should gain while visiting this great country!

Ruins of Heidelberg

Heidelberg it self is a picture perfect place, but the Ruins of Heidelberg (Schloss Heidelberg) is the real show stealer. Located in the Heidelberg Castle Gardens, the ruins stand tall in the middle. If you are looking for ruins that are massive, very well preserved and take you back in time: then you have come to the right place!

Daytrip to the Unesco centre of Trier, Germany

Trier is a city with history dating back to the 4th century BC! The city is located on the banks of the river Moselle and is most famous for the Porta Nigra, a Roman gate that still stands to this day! Trier is worth a (half)day trip if you are wandering around the area, and is a perfect spot to relax while soaking up all the pretty old historical sights!

Visit Neuschwanstein Castle

Before you continue to read further on this blog, we did not get a ticket to enter the castle. For years we wanted to see this castle with our own eyes. So earlier last month when we decided to drive to Austria, we thought of picking half a day out for visiting Neuschwanstein Castle. To be honest, you do not need to spend a dime for enjoying the outside of the castle at all. We were a bit lazy/ in a rush so paid for a few things. At the end, glad we did it: but definitely not the prettiest or most impressive castle we ever visited :-). Got to be honest!

Castle hunt in Germany: visit of Burg Eltz, Germany

Burg Eltz is located in the German province Rheinland-Pfalz, between the cities Koblenz and Trier. The medieval castle is built in the 12th century and is nestled on a hillside. The castle is famous for being well preserved, surviving nature and human interference. If you are in the Western side of Germany, be sure to make a quick stop here!
